Kephyr Search Deskbar v0.1b
Kephyr Search Deskbar is a tiny text field toolbar floating on your desktop, designed
to make fast searches from any application without moving your fingers from
the keyboard. Press Ctrl+Shift+K and the deskbar will activate, enter your
search in the deskbar, press enter and a regular
Google search will open in your web
browser. You can of course configure Kephyr Search Deskbar to use launch searches
from any search engine, such as
AltaVista,
AllTheWeb,
Ask Jeeves,
GigaBlast,
HotBot,
LookSmart,
Lycos,
Msn Search,
Yahoo Search,
WiseNut, etc.
Kephyr Search Deskbar is in an early stage of development
yet not offering a considerable number of features, but there
are some that are under development and might be well
worth mentioning. The first feature is the calculator; type
calc 6 * 7 / 10 * sin(45) and the deskbar will evaluate the expression.
The calculator can handle many complex
mathematical functions, such
as sin, cos, hypot, log10, etc.
The second feature under development is the
Kephyr SearchStart,
a web service that compile links to the most popular search engines, dictionaries,
encyclopedias, and other valuable resources allowing you to enter them with
a single mouse click. For example, type
k Ludwig van Beethoven and a web page with direct search links to encyclopedias and
search engines will open.
The third feature allows to open a URL directly from the deskbar; type
g www.kephyr.com and the deskbar launch a browser window
with www.kephyr.com as the start page.
Kephyr Search Deskbar is freeware and Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP compatible
and you can download it here.
